WISCERS: A New Chapter in Undergraduate Research
WISCERS was built on the idea that undergraduate students benefit not only from research experience, but from individualized research mentorship. The WISCERS program created opportunities for students to work closely with a faculty mentor on a project shaped around shared (mentor and mentee) interests and research priorities.
The WISCERS approach has been adopted by the Data Science Institute through its Wisconsin Undergraduate Research in Data Science (WISCURDS).
Joining Forces with WISCURDS
WISCERS has joined forces with the Data Science Institute's WISCURDS program. The one-on-one, student-centered model that WISCERS developed now forms the WISCURDS Individual Track, carrying forward the program’s commitment to personalized mentorship and independent scholarly development.
WISCURDS also incorporates the group project model from Informatics Skunkworks, offering students a choice of research experiences. Students can choose from opportunities that involve collaboration in a group setting with students or otherwise also pursue a more focused and individualized experience in the individual track.
